Marina Silva, President of Brazil, pressed rich nations to provide more in funding to the Global South, while
articulating sharply how developing countries cannot be left to struggle with climate change in isolation.
Rising Global Temperatures and Challenges of Climate
The urgency in the climate change issue is pegged on a series of shocking statistics that saw the light of
day in the just begun month.
According to NASA, 2024 is expected to surpass 2016 as the hottest year ever recorded, with a rise in
global temperatures by over 1.5?C compared to pre-industrial levels.
The resultant effect has been increased hurricanes, wildfires, and droughts across continents.
Europe has seen record heatwaves and drought that devastated agriculture, while North America saw
